Self-Trust and Choosing…
From Doing to Being: A Nervous System Series
Part 6: Self-Trust and Choosing Differently
As you keep moving through this series, you may begin to notice something important:
Slowing down is not only about rest.
It is also about trust.
Trusting that you can pause.
Trusting that you can listen.
Trusting that you can choose something different, even if the old pattern feels more familiar.
For many of us, the nervous system learned to move quickly, stay alert, and keep going. This pattern may have once been protective. It may have helped us adapt, manage, or survive.
And while that may have served us in one season, it may no longer be the only way forward.
This is where self-trust begins to grow.
Not all at once.
Not perfectly.
But in small moments of noticing:
I feel rushed, and I can pause.
I feel tense, and I can soften.
I feel pulled toward the familiar, and I can choose something gentler.
These moments matter.
Each time you respond with more awareness, you are showing yourself that change is possible.
That you are not stuck.
That you can begin to move in a new direction.
And this is where intentionality comes in.
Not forcing.
Not proving.
Just choosing with a little more care.
This week, you might try asking yourself:
What does my body need right now?
What would it look like to respond, rather than react?
What is one small choice I can make that supports the season I’m in now?
You do not need to have it all figured out.
You only need to begin trusting the next gentle step.
